Apple Baked Beans
Serve this up as a side at your father's day barbecue! Dads everywhere will love it! Adapted from a Paula Deen recipe!
Servings: 8
1/2 cup diced onion
2 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans (or boston baked pork & beans)
1 cup diced granny smith apple (about 1/2 of a large apple)
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 slices bacon
1 Preheat the oven to 350°F Coat a 1 1/2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
2 In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the bacon and mix well.
3 Pour into the baking dish and lay the raw strips of bacon on top (I cut the bacon into pieces so it will mix in nicely later).
4 Cover and bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until thick and bubbly.
5 Uncover and bake for 5 more minutes.
