Broccoli and Beef

Ingredients:

1 lb. beef, cut into thin 3-inch strips
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup gluten-free soy sauce(can use regular soy sauce)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp ground pepper
4 cups broccoli florets
1 medium white onion, chopped (or thinly sliced).

For the sauce:
1 cup cold water
1/4 cup gluten-free soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, adds some nice heat)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1-2 tsp toasted sesame seeds.

Directions:

In a bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup soy sauce, minced garlic and black pepper. Add the beef strips and marinade for half an hour.

In a large pan or wok, heat the 2 Tbsp of oil. Add beef and marinade, and fry until the meat is no longer pink.
Add the onions about 2 minutes. Add the broccoli and continue cooking 1 more minute.

In a bowl whisk together the 1 cup cold water, 1/4 cup soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes and cornstarch. Pour this mixture over the beef & broccoli mixture, and cook until sauce thickens, about 2-3 more minutes.

Serve with noodles or rice. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
